Lord Sri Krishna said, Oh! King Yudhishthira you are very anxious to listen about the Mahatmya of Shravan Putrada Ekadashi Vrat. Please listen.

Once, the king of Bhadravati Nagari (भद्रावती नगरी), “Suketuman” and his queen “Shabya” were grieved by the absence of progeny. The couple as well as their dead ancestors were worried that without somebody to offer shraddha, they will not be at peace and will become lost souls after death. They were very frustrated, then the king left his kingdom and went to the forest unbeknownst to everyone. After wandering the forest for days, Suketuman reached the ashram of some sages on the bank of Lake Manasarovar on the day of Putrada Ekadashi. The sages revealed that they were the ten divines “Vishva Devas”. They asked to the king, what is the reason to coming up here? Rajan shared his worried with the sages and told I don’t have a child who can increase my generation after me. Then, sages advised the king, to worship this Shravan Putrada Ekadashi fast quietly to attain a son. After that, the king complied everything about the fast and returned to the kingdom. He started worship lord Vishnu and keep fasting on Putrada Ekadashi Vrat. After few days, soon, the king was blessed by a son, who grew up to become a heroic king.
