About Janmashtami 2025

Janmashtami Vrat Katha (जन्माष्टमी व्रत कथा)

According to mythological beliefs, Lord Krishna was born in Mathura. It is said that he was born to kill Kamsa. Let us tell you that in the Dwapara era, Kansa usurped the throne of his father Ugrasena Raja and imprisoned him. After this, Kansa declared himself the king of Mathura. Kansa also had a sister there. whose name was Devaki.

Kansa got his sister Devaki married to Vasudeva with great fanfare. After that he was sending Devaki away. Then the sky announced that Devaki's eighth son would kill Kansa. Then hearing this sky voice, Kansa's soul trembled and he started to panic.

After hearing such invisible aura voice from the sky, he had made up his mind to kill his sister Devaki, but Vasudeva explained to Kansa that doing so would not benefit him. Then he imprisoned his sister Devaki and Vasudeva and told Vasudeva that you will hand over your eighth child to me.

After that, Kansa killed the 7 children of Devaki and Vasudeva. When the eighth was about to be born, heavy clouds appeared in the sky and heavy rain began to fall. At the same time lightning started to crackle in the sky.

According to legend, at 12 midnight all the locks of the prison were broken and all the soldiers guarding the place fell into a deep sleep. It is said that Lord Narayana appeared at that time and told Devaki-Vasudeva that he would be born from Devaki's womb.

After this, he said that he should leave his avatar in Gokul and come to Nanda Baba and hand over the girl born in Mathura to Mathura to Kansa. After this, Vasudeva, according to the Lord's instructions, left Nanda Baba and handed over the girl from Gokul to Kansa.

As soon as he found out that the girl was born, Kansa closed his anger. He went to jail to kill her and raised his hand, then suddenly the girl disappeared. After which the sky said, O fool! The baby you want to kill is growing in Gokul.

Kansa got scared on hearing this aura and tried to kill Kanha by sending demons to Gokul, but Lord Krishna killed all the demons one by one and then Lord Vishnu Avatar killed Kansa too(भगवान विष्णु के अवतार श्री कृष्ण ने कंस का वध किया).
