Who is Udham Singh?

Udham Singh was born in 1899 in Sunam, Sangrur district, Punjab. He became a revolutionary early in life and visited many countries to fulfil his life's purpose. He travelled to Nairobi in the year 1921 and Africa in the year 1920 and returned to India in the year 1924. Udham Singh is known for spending many years in a variety of revolutionary activities.

Udham Singh Shoots Michael O'Dwyer

Udham Singh, a 40-year-old Indian man, disguised himself as an Englishman, took out a revolver and fired six rounds into a crowd. O'Dwyer was hit by two bullets and died on the spot. After this, Udham Singh shot Lord Zetland and was seriously injured. Udham Singh did not try to run away from the crowd. Because he was a brave man.

He knew that if I kill them, I will get the death penalty. After sometime he was arrested by the British soldiers immediately on the spot.

Shaheed Udham Singh Jayanti celebrates on 26th of December every year by Indian Government Official. As a great freedom fighter, he had given his life for this country. We will always remember him and will always remember him.

Significance of Martyr's Day

The Jallianwala Bagh massacre was a major event in the history of the Indian freedom struggle. Sardar Udham Singh avenged this massacre which was an important part of the struggle.

It is dedicated to our freedom fighters who lost their lives fighting against the British rule.

This dedicated day is also celebrated to draw the attention of the people towards the Indian freedom struggle.
