Who is Maharana Pratap?

Maharana Pratap was born to Udai Singh Two the King of Mewar and his mother’s name was Jaiwanta Bai. He born in 1540, the year in which Udai Singh ascended to the throne after defeating Vanvir Singh. He had three younger brothers named were, Shakti Singh, Vikram Singh and Jagmal Singh.

Maharana Pratap Jayanti(महाराणा प्रताप जयंती), also known as birthday of Maharana Pratap, is a festival and a public holiday in Rajasthan, marking the birth anniversary of the Indian ruler Maharana Pratap. A great hero. It is usually celebrated on 9 May, but some also celebrate it on 22 May. The day is celebrated as the birth of Rajput king, Maharana Pratap born on 9 May 1540, though due to change from the Julian calendar to Gregorian calendar it has been calculated to be on 22nd date of month of May. Maharana Pratap Jayanti is celebrated with special Pujas and celebrations in Udaipur and Chittorgarh with processions and rallies in the honour of the King Maharana Pratap(महाराणा प्रताप). In Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh & Himachal Pradesh it is also celebrates as public holiday.

What is the Childhood name of Maharana Pratap?

Maharana Pratap’s childhood name was “Pratap” he also had two stepsisters called Chand Kanwar and Mann Kanwar. His chief consort was Ajabde Bai Punwar of Bijolia. He belonged to the royal family of Mewar. After the death of Udai Singh in 1572, Rani Dheer Bai Bhatiyani wanted her son Jagmal to succeed him but senior courtiers preferred Pratap, as the eldest son, to be their king. The desire of the nobles prevailed and Pratap ascended the throne as Maharana Pratap, the 54th ruler of Mewar in the line of the Sisodia Rajputs Generations. He was crowned in Gogunda on the auspicious day of Holi Festival. Maharana Pratap was a great ruler as well as the great emperor of the Hindus. He fights against the Mughals many times which is already proved in the Indian History.
