What is Eid ul-Adha?
Eid ul-Adha is the second of the two main holidays in Islam along with Eid ul-Fitr. It falls on the 10th of “Dhu al-Hijjah”, as per the twelfth and final month of the Islamic calendar. This festival’s celebrations and rituals usually last for the next three days, known as “Tashreeq Days(तशरीक़ दिन)”.
How People Celebrates Eid ul-Adha
On the day Islamic people wear new clothes, offer Eid-al-Adha prayers in the mosque and greet each other and wish Bakrid. Throughout the year, people wait for Bakrid to arrive so that they can enjoy delicious food especially “Gosth” as well as they also serve the poor.
Significance of Eid ul-Adha(ईद उल-अज़हा)
“Eid al-Adha” is also sometimes called Eid II or some people says "Greater Eid". In Islamic tradition, it is believed that, it honors Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God's command. Depending on the narrative, Ishmael or Isaac is referred to by the honorific title of "Sacrifice of God". Pilgrims who perform the Hajj usually perform the Tawaf and Sa'i of the Hajj on Eid al-Adha, as well as the ritual of stoning the devil on the day of the Eid and the days following.
Bakrid or Eid-al-Adha, which is the 'Festival of Sacrifice', holds a very special place in the heart of the Muslim community around the world and is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm.
