When is Lhabab Duchen(ल्हाबाब दुचेन)?
According to Tibetan traditions, Lhab Duchen is celebrated on the 22nd day of the ninth month according to the Tibetan calendar.
What is Lhabab Duchen
“Lhabab Duchen” is an annual Buddhist festival celebrated to commemorate the return of Buddha from the kingdom of God, known as the kingdom of Indra to the thirty-third heaven. Also called Trayastrimsa heaven, he went there to repay the kindness of his mother Mayadevi by giving teachings to her and the gods.
Mayadevi attained arhatship. Lhab Duchen is one of the four festivals celebrated to commemorate four events in the life of Buddha. It is a Buddhist festival celebrated to commemorate the return of Buddha from heaven to earth.
While Buddha left for heaven at the age of fourty one age, he ascended to the thirty-third heaven called Trayastrimsa to give teachings to benefit the gods in the desire realms and to repay the kindness of his mother and release her from samsara.
His follower and representative Mougalyana persuaded him to return and after a long debate he managed to return. This is considered one of the eight great deeds of Buddha.
Is Buddha will be Returned?
It is believed that, Lord Buddha returned to earth by a special triple ladder designed by Lord Vishwakarma, the god of mechanics. On Lhab Duchen, the effects of positive or negative actions are amplified ten million times. Engaging in virtuous activities is part of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and they also offer prayers, meditation on the occasion of Lhab Duchen festival.
