About Gandhi Jayanti 2025 2025

Introduction to Gandhi Jayanti

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated in every year on 2 October. It is observed in all of India's states and territories. It is marked by prayer services and tributes across India, including at Gandhi's memorial, Raj Ghat, in New Delhi where he was cremated. Popular activities include prayer meetings, memorial ceremonies in different cities by colleges, local government institutions and socio-political institutions. On this day awards are granted for projects in schools and the community encouraging a nonviolent way of life as well as celebrating Gandhi's effort in the Indian independence movement. Gandhi's favourite bhajan, "Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram", is usually sung in his memory. Statues of Mahatma Gandhi throughout the country are decorated with flowers and garlands, and some people avoid drinking alcohol or eating meat on the day. Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday celebrates as Gandhi Jayanti. It is a gazetted holiday in India. This day is a compulsory official holiday. All the educational institutions, schools, colleges, universities, private and government offices remaining closed due to the holiday.

The Biography of Mahatma Gandhi

Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi was one of the great Freedom Fighter in India. He was fighting with “Ahinsa Neeti” without taking any weapons against the British Rulers. Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi fought a long battle for India's independence. His contribution was great to freed India from the British Rulers. He always followed the ideals of truth and non-violence. The country pays tribute to the Father of the Nation by celebrating his birthday as Gandhi Jayanti.

Today whole world salutes the non-violence policy of the Gandhiji. It is not just because of Gandhiji's greatness that India has become free today. There is no account of how many lakhs of people died on the day of martyrdom. He had a soft corner more for Muslims people. Whoever said that Gandhi ji would go to the world, that too would happen. When the country was divided on the basis of religion. Just like Muslims will live in Pakistan and Hindus in Hindustan. Still Gandhiji said that those who do not want to go to Pakistan can live here. There were no such issues that seemed time consuming. But in future very big problems will be created and that is what is happening even today as you all are watching. Then, Nathuram Godse, was a lawyer and his foresight was very strong. He did not like Gandhiji’s decision, he always obeyed and welcomed to Netaji Subhas Bose’s decision and thought that if Gandhiji lived for a few more days, he will create many issues for Hindus for which, there will be no solution. He worried about what then decided to shoot out the Gandhiji and he did same later on. Then court find him as culprit and hanged on to Nathu Ram Godse. This is what, he has also told in the book he has written, Why Did I Kill Gandhi? I just write here few words, the details you will find in his book. At the end, I would say, we are not against the Gandhiji, nor are we against Nathu Ramji. According to me, at that time, in that situation, what kind of action by them and decision taken the result is in front of you. We salute both Gandhiji and Nathuram Godse ji.
