About Basant Panchami 2025

Basant Panchami is an Auspicious Day

Vasant Panchami also known as Saraswati Puja(सरस्वती पूजा), conversationally known as Basant Panchami, is celebrated on the fifth day of the month of Magh in the Hindu calendar, which usually falls in late January or early February. This auspicious day holds immense cultural significance as it marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring. The landscape changes with nature's finest colors, and there is a tangible feeling of renewal and vitality in the air.

Why Basant Panchami

Basant Panchami (वसंत पंचमी), also called Saraswati Puja, in honour of the Hindu goddess Saraswati. A festival that marks the preparation for the arrival of spring. This festival is celebrated in different ways in Indian religions depending on the region. Vasant Panchami also marks the beginning of preparations for Holika and Holi, which occur forty days later. Panchami is celebrated as Basant Utsav forty days before spring. Because the transition period of any season is 40 days, and after that the season comes into full bloom.

When Vasant Panchami Celebrates?

Vasant Panchami is celebrating every year on the fifth day of the Shukla Paksha of the Hindu lunar calendar month Magha, which usually falls in late January or February. Spring is called the “king of all seasons”, hence the festival starts forty days in advance. It is generally like winter in North India, and it is more spring-like in the central and western parts of India on Basant Panchami, which lends credence to the idea that spring actually comes into full bloom 40 days after the day of Vasant Panchami.
